Summer's over already??

Whoops....was December really the last time I posted?? Guess that means I have been on vacation for a long time or that I have a two year old that demands every second of my free time. I'm not going to catch you up on the last 8 months, but I can try to do an update on our summer.

Memorial day weekend we went up to Portland & took Reese to the Oregon Zoo. Was a fun long weekend but 5 hours was a bit much for him to handle in the car. We broke it up so he didn't do too bad. He really liked the zoo but we should have split it up into two days. By the afternoon, he was ready for a nap and we were just over half done.

Fourth of July weekend we went to Ukiah, CA to visit Ashley. It was really hot but was nice to visit with her & see where she is living. We got to relax quite a bit which is always good. We checked out a couple of wineries & breweries & her & I even got to go out one night by ourselves!

We did go camping twice this summer, for one night each time. The first time we went alone and the second time with some friends. Reese really had a lot of fun and loved playing in the water & dirt. He also got to use his fishing pole. The first time they didn't get anything but the second time we went David caught a lot.

Early August, Ashley came up here for the weekend. Was nice that she could make the trip up here We took her up to Crater Lake but otherwise didn't do a whole lot.


And here we are, already at Labor Day weekend. Unofficially, the end of summer. David has been outside working on the back fence all weekend while Reese & I have been playing. I think I have finally gotten him to stay in his bed at bed/nap time. He did really good at first, for about two weeks, then he decided every time I left the room he was going to scream & cry. I tried to just keep putting him back in bed, but that turned into a game & just didn't work. I finally child proofed his door, from the inside so he can't open it. I told him I would leave his door open as long as he stays in his room. I gave him 2 chances, then closed the door. Well, he didn't really enjoy that. After about 2 minutes of screaming & banging on the door, he went to bed. That was 2 nights ago, and last night he went to bed & didn't get out! Now on to potty training. The baby sitter has a bunch of kids going back to school this week & will have more time to work with Reese & another kid on going to the potty. I have been working with him on it all weekend...he is doing ok but still doesn't tell me when he has to go. He has gone in the potty 3 or 4 times & stickers seem to be the best incentive. We'll see how it goes after we get back into our weekly work routine. Hopefully we can keep it going. I sure am tired of changing diapers!

Now for an update on my latest hair color....yes, there is red in it.

Hopefully it won't be another 8 months until my next update!
